Yesterday, we celebrated the festival of Pola at Panchsheel Ashram School. The festival holds special importance for farmers in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and parts of central India. Dedicated to bulls and oxen, Pola marks a day of gratitude for these animals that play a vital role in agriculture. the oxen were decorated (remember the swastika is a Hindu sign of blessing, good fortune and good luck) Dances, music and a special art project where the children build small oxen out of clay and decorate them. Very fun! We also inaugurated a new guest house.
